Success Stories
La Cuna foster families have wonderful stories to share about their new addition
— Here are see just a few.
The Morales Family
Andrew and Elizabeth Morales helped their first La Cuna foster child, Omar, reunite
with his Mom, who loved her son and worked hard to become a good provider. They
have since become godparents to Omar and see him weekly for overnights. They then
took in Annette, who after being shuffled between three homes in four months, bonded
strongly with them. The Morales family was able to adopt Annette who joins their
biological son Gabriel in a loving and generous home.
The Ramirez Family
Marissa Ramirez, school teacher, community activist, and Harvard grad, initially
thought she wouldn't qualify to be a La Cuna foster parent because she is single. Tomás
was placed in her arms just a few days after he was born because his biological
Mother was fighting a battle with drugs, and had lost several children to drugs
previously. Tomás is now an enormously happy, healthy adopted toddler. With
the fierce support of Marissa and her incredibly strong family, Tomás has
the tools to help him STOP the cycle of drugs that preceeded his birth.
The Bazurto Family
Esmeralda and Steve wanted a family and to help the community as well. They became
involved with three siblings separated in the foster care system who were in desperate
situations. After eight months of separation the three had an emotional, happy,
permanent reunion. The Bazurtos then took in another La Cuna foster baby whose extended
relatives could not provide for him. Now they have a full and loving house.
