Premier Foster Family Agency for Latino Babies
Right now there is a "silent crisis" in San Diego foster care where there aren't enough loving families for foster infants and toddlers. Babies are the most vulnerable age group of foster children due to their intensive emotional and developmental needs. La Cuna addresses these needs by finding the arms and hearts of families who will open their homes and care for them properly. Learn more.
Through La Cuna's services, foster babies and young children are being connected with loving families committed to the process of their healing to erase the early scars of neglect and abuse, and prevent disastrous social and psychological problems later. According to the National Association of Social Workers, 80% of all inmates are former foster children.
La Cuna is a foster adoption agency. Approximately half of all placements result
in our parents adopting their La Cuna children.
This happens only after every attempt has been made to encourage reunification with
biological parents. Currently, 96% of our foster children are able to remain in
one La Cuna home until they are either reunified with rehabilitated family members
or adopted by their La Cuna foster parents. Become a La Cuna Parent Today.

Foster Care Challenges
Very young children are the fastest growing group of the foster care population, yet services are lagging behind in addressing their specific needs. La Cuna is the only Foster Family Agency in San Diego focused on providing services to Latino infants and toddlers. There are over 5,000 children in San Diego foster care. Over a third of these children are between 0 and 5 years old, and half are Latino.
Unfortunately for foster babies and toddlers in San Diego, after one year in foster care, 50% have been moved three or more times due to a shortage of stable foster homes. Children will only experience healthy development when their many needs are consistently met throughout childhood. Infants and toddlers who enter the foster care system and experience multiple placements do not receive the stable care that they desperately need.
